When you hit the ball as hard as he does, you can get away with hitting the ball this low. Out of all of 2017's 6,105 home runs, fewer than 5 percent were hit at a launch angle of 20 degrees or under -- and the ones that were homers averaged 108.2 mph. Above 20 degrees, the average was still an impressive but lower 102.9 mph. If there were a single home run that met the textbook definition for "frozen rope," this one would be it. Ninety-five years after Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs in a season, Judge became the third MLB player in American League history to hit 60 home runs in one season.
Judge chose the nickname "All Rise" to be worn on the back of his jersey nameplate. For the 2018 Players Weekend, Judge chose to just have his last name on the back of his jersey. During the 2019 event, Judge chose his own nickname, "BAJ", an abbreviation of "Big Aaron Judge".

This was the first meeting between the Astros and Dodgers since MLB handed down penalties to the Astros for sign-stealing. Kelly's pouty face mocking of Correa complaining about the near hit by pitch became an internet meme. Ironically, Kelly himself was a member of the 2018 Boston Red Sox, which themselves were implicated in a cheating scandal. Darvish signed with the Cubs and continued to struggle with performance and injury in 2018 and early in the season in 2019, before returning to his pre-2017 World Series form for the second half of 2019. He was traded to the San Diego Padres, a division rival of the Dodgers, prior to the 2020 season. Yuli Gurriel doubled after the home run, but Fields was replaced by Tony Cingrani and Gurriel was stranded. In the next inning, pinch-hitter Cameron Maybin singled and stole second. George Springer hit a two-run home run for the Astros off of Brandon McCarthy to retake the lead.

Like Stanton's final homer of 2017, Judge's swan song that year was anything but cheap. With the rookie home run record already in tow, Judge took a victory lap on this 484-foot shot that helped him pass Babe Ruth for the most homers by any player at Yankee Stadium in a single season. Innings with no hits allowed and four strikeouts to earn his first major league save.
It was also the first time since the 1931 World Series that a Game 7 occurred in a Series with both teams having won at least 100 games during the season. Besides, this was the first time since the 2001 World Series and 2002 World Series that back-to-back Fall Classics had a Game 7. This was the first World Series in which home-field advantage was decided by the regular season record of the two pennant winners. From 1903 to 2002, home-field advantage had been determined by coin flips and by alternating between the AL and NL. From 2003 to 2016, it was determined by results from that season's All-Star Game, when it was awarded to the team from the winning league. The series was played in a 2–3–2 format, with the Dodgers hosting Games 1, 2, 6, and 7; and the Astros hosting Games 3, 4, and 5.
General manager Brian Cashman told ESPN that the team offered Judge $17 million in arbitration and a $213.5 million, seven-year extension. Cashman refused to comment on whether this affected the negotiations. Judge avoided salary arbitration and signed a one-year, $19 million contract on June 24, with additional $250,000 bonuses for winning each of the MVP Award and the World Series MVP Award. On August 12, in the Field of Dreams game in Iowa, Judge hit two multiple-run home runs.
The Astros scored first when Bregman drove in Josh Reddick with a hit in the third inning. Hill struck out seven in four innings but was replaced by Kenta Maeda in the fifth. Joc Pederson tied the game with a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Dodgers took the lead when Corey Seager hit a two-run home run after Taylor walked in the bottom of the sixth inning. Verlander allowed two hits, both home runs, in his six innings pitched. Carlos Correa drove in the Astros' second run of the game on a single in the eighth, ending the Dodgers bullpen's streak of 28 consecutive scoreless innings in the postseason. Marwin González hit a home run off Jansen in the ninth to tie the game.
One day before Judge hit 2017's longest home run, he belted 2017's hardest-hit home run. This one, measured at 121.1 mph, was the second-hardest-hit ball of the year (Stanton had a 122.2-mph single), and it was also the hardest-hit home run we've seen in three seasons of Statcast™. Chris Tillman's changeup came in at just 84.5 mph, and Judge added more than 36 mph to it on its way out of the park. On November 23, 2021, Judge was named to the First Team selections for the All-MLB Team at the outfield position.
